Alan's office mark Armed Forces Day

30 June 2014

Alan marked Armed Forces Day by celebrating the contribution of reservists, including from a member of his own Westminster staff.

Rutland-born Richard Farrow who works in Alan’s Westminster office has recently become a Reservist in the Royal Marine Commandos, following a gruelling 15 months of training that culminated in the world renowned Commando Course and him being awarded his coveted Green Beret.

It was therefore with great pride that he wore his uniform to Parliament on Wednesday 25th June to draw attention to the UK’s Reserve Forces, and the nation’s armed forces as a whole, as part of ‘Uniform at Work Day’.

Alan said: “Armed Forces Day is a wonderful opportunity to pay tribute those who serve and have served in the Armed Forces. Reservists play a vital role that deserves to be championed. I am extremely proud to have a Reservist in my office and would encourage other employers to offer their support to anyone thinking of serving their country in this way.’
