Alan welcomes burglar sentencing

27 September 2012

Alan today welcomed the news that two burglars who targetted his constituents Andy and Tracey Ferrie in Welby last month have each been sentenced to four years in jail.

The case drew national attention as it restarted a debate about homeowners' right to defend their property, with the burgled couple being released without charge.

Reacting to sentence, Alan said: 'Three cheers for the judge. Justice has been done. Culprits are culprits and victims are victims. The police did a very good job and I give them my full support for the thoroughness of the investigation they carried out when a firearm was involved.'
