Alan has added his voice to the congratulations received by local scientist Dr Tim Stevenson, who is celebrating winning a prestigious national science award.
Dr Stevenson, a postdoctoral researcher working at the University of Leeds' Institute for Material Research and originally from Ketton, came out on top at the nationwide 'SET for Britain' scientific poster competition, where he was supported by Alan as his local MP.
Alan enjoyed watching his presentation, which he delivered to over a hundred politicians and a panel of engineering experts at the finals held at the House of Commons on Monday 14th March. He subsequently won, taking away a £3000 cash prize.
Alan said: 'I was delighted to hear of Tim's success in the competition. We are in need of more top class scientists and engineers in this country and we can all be proud to boast one of the very best as our own.'
