DTI Team on Listening Trip to Tyneside

Shadow Trade and Industry Secretary Alan Duncan , along with his front bench team, visited Tyneside on a two day visit this week .

Mr Duncan, who was joined by two members of the House of Lords, was on Tyneside to meet people representing the private and public sectors.

He said he wanted to make sure the party's business policies helped places such as Tyneside.
He said: "The Conservative Party want to build on Tyneside's regeneration and see it become more enterprising and maximise its opportunities in engaging in the new markets of the Far East."

"We're coming to listen to businesses before we make up our minds." This week's visit comes after Mr Duncan pledged to make all his policies pass a "Tyneside test" to ensure they would improve enterprise in the North-East.

The visit will include meetings with Northern Rock, the North East Chamber of Commerce, Northumbria University and the CBI.
