The Great North Run He beat his target time of 3 hours by nearly half an hour, finishing the race in 2 hours and 31 minutes. By completing the race, Alan raised close to £500 for the Newcastle based charity, Own It, who help disengaged students into work placements.

Alan competed in the Great North Run on Sunday the 30th of September. It was the first time Alan had run it and his local paper kindly billed it as a ‘half marathon race to be run by half pint MP'.
