Alan visits Business in the Community.

Alan was in the North East at the end of October and paid a visit to the North East branch of Business in the Community.

Business in the Community runs specific programmes and events to meet the needs of member businesses to address key social issues specific to the region.

The region has fewer businesses than the national average and still lags behind most other regions in terms of its economic output per head. The dominant sectors of the regional economy are manufacturing, business services and the public sector, with a higher proportion of people working in the public sector than the national average. 

Alan is keen to lend his support to the group and recognises the important work it’s trying to do to boost enterprise in the North East. He dropped in to their headquarters to meet the regional director, Karen Wilkinson-Bell, pictured with Alan, to discuss their latest initiatives.
