Labour Rebellion on Post offices Slashes Majority
The Conservatives last night gave the Government a bloody nose as 19 Labour MPs voted for the Conservative motion calling for a suspension of the Post Office closures programme.
It was one of the biggest rebellions of Gordon Brown's premiership. Many Labour MPs who backed the Government last night had opposed closures in their constituencies and were accused of having double-standards by the Tories.
