Alan visits Bringhurst School

Alan was at Bringhurst School on Friday to discuss possible traffic calming measures with the headteacher, Rosemary Williams, and Mike Hay, the group manager for Transport Scheme Developments.

After the discussions, the preferred option was a 30 limit and chicanes which takes you from two lanes to one, with priority traffic for those using the school. The designs were passed on to the kids for them to create their own layout.

Commenting, Alan said:

‘It is crazy that cars are allowed to go past so fast. I have been asking for three years for measures to address this. This is the only school in Leicestershire which doesn’t have a 30 limit outside the school gates.

‘This is a beautiful rural setting so there should be no ghastly signs or coloured paint. It needs an effective and attractive solution which does the trick without spoiling the landscape.’
