Alan backs Good Neighbours Scheme

On Friday 21st March 2014 Alan met representatives from the Rural Communities Council to lend his support to the ‘Good Neighbourhood Scheme’.

The Rural Communities Council (RCC) facilitates the schemes across Rutland & Melton, with four operating in Rutland and two in Melton. They are operated by local volunteers who provide support within their communities. In Rutland, the ‘Rutland Community Spirit’ scheme is particularly focussed on the elderly and on providing home-based help, as well as increasing their social interaction by taking them out.

Alan said: ‘These schemes are a godsend for people in rural communities and I give them my 100% backing. The ‘Rutland Community Spirit’ scheme is tapping into the generosity of people who are willing to go out of their way to lend a hand. I have no doubt the programmes will only increase in number over the coming months.’
