Rutland & Melton MP Alan Duncan has lent his support to bids from both Rutland and Melton Mowbray for funding to boost their local high streets.
The ‘Rutland Towns Team’ and ‘Melton Mowbray BID Company’ are both submitting bids for £10,000 investment from the Department for Communities and Local Government’s ‘Out Town First’ fund, with the aim of boosting trade and tourism. This will be acheived through shopping and awareness schemes to improve tourist information and events and campaigns within the towns to attract more people to their local high streets.
After signing the nomination forms for both bids as local MP, Alan said: ‘I am very happy to nominate the Rutland Towns Team and Melton Mowbray bids. I have always been a strong supporter of our local high streets and the diversity of independent shops and businesses they have to offer. I am strongly in support any scheme that helps them to thrive.’
