Alan has backed calls for a blimp to be flown at the site of a potential wind farm in Melton Mowbray.
Wind Ventures Ltd are currently consulting on plans to develop a wind farm at Crown Hill, adjacent to the former RAF Melton Mowbray. Residents have called on Wind Ventures Ltd to fly a blimp at the height of the tip of the proposed turbines as part of any application process, a request which Alan has now lent his support to.
In a letter to Project Manager Adrian Butler, Alan said: ‘Having been involved in dozens of similar processes throughout the constituency over the past few years, I have become convinced that flying a blimp is the only method by which residents can be given a clear impression that they can trust of the height of any proposed turbines.’
Commenting on the letter, Alan said: ‘Blimps are the only thing that people trust- mocked up photo-montages on their own just don’t inspire local confidence or allow people to understand what a turbine would look like in reality. I successfully called for a blimp at Asfordby back in 2011, and think the same should apply in this case.’
