Alan praises Brentingby Dam

Alan has praised the effectiveness of the Brentingby Dam in preventing flooding in Melton Mowbray last week.

Last week Alan was contacted by the Environment Agency to confirm that flood warnings for the area had been removed and in doing so highlighted the impact of the Brengingby Dam has had in protecting the town from higher river levels.

Alan said: ‘This is why the dam is so vital for Melton. If it wasn’t there all this water would have flown downstream right into the heart of the town so I am pleased I was able to lobby for the funding to get it built a few years ago. Flooding often only makes the news when things go wrong, but it is worth highlighting when things go right too.’
