Alan has today received direct confirmation that the proposed Asfordby wind farm has been rejected by the Secretary of State.
Alan was told of the decision in a letter this morning from DCLG Minister Kris Hopkins, who wrote: 'Further to your representation on this case, I am writing to let you know that I have issued a decision today to refuse the development.'
It follows years of lobbying from Alan to the Council, a Public Inquiry and, finally, the Secretary of State.
Welcoming the decision, Alan said:
‘This should be the final nail in the coffin for this unwanted application. The Minister has now confirmed to me in a letter his decision to refuse. I have been lobbying the Secretary of State non-stop over the last few months to reject the wind farm and am delighted that he has agreed. At every stage I have been banging away, first to the Council and then to the Public Inquiry that this was a wind farm that no-one wanted. The campaigners at Asfordby have also shown phenomenal dedication in challenging this application every step of the way. It has been a long, drawn out process but localism has ultimately won the day.’
