Alan welcomes Thorpe Satchville turbine rejection

Alan has today welcomed the news that the Secretary of State has upheld the decision to reject permission for two wind turbines at Thorpe Satchville, and dismissed the applicants' appeals.

In a letter to Alan from the Minister of State, James Wharton, he confirmed that the appeals against the rejection have been dismissed. The decision marks the end of years of local community campaigning and strong support from Alan, who has lobbied the Council and the Planning Inspectorate, before successfully asking the Secretary of State to call in the final decision.

Alan said: ‘I am delighted the Secretary of State has dismissed these appeals, as I urged him to do. I have been fighting against these turbines with local residents and ward Councillor Leigh Higgins for years now, and finally we have some good news.We will wait to see if there is a final challenge to the decision in the courts, but hopefully this marks the end of the road for this unwanted application. What is clear is that the one turbine that has already been improperly erected must now come down.’
