Friendly Bench

On Sunday 25th March I was delighted to officially open the The Friendly Bench in Granby Drive, Bottesford – a mini kerbside community garden that is designed to connect people to each other, to places and with nature. This community project was founded in Rutland and Melton to tackle loneliness and social isolation for the elderly, lonely and those with restricted mobility.

The event was very well attended, and I met and talked to local residents and supporters from Bottesford, members of Bottesford Parish Council and representatives from our local schools and youth groups. It was good to meet so many people dedicated to this important issue and I am sure the project will enjoy great success in the coming months.
