Government Department flies flag for Rutland

Rutland’s flag was this week proudly flown above Whitehall, the heart of government in Westminster.

The distinctive green and yellow standard was raised above the Department for Communities and Local Government as part of a plan to fly each county flag for a week at a time to celebrate the heritage and importance of counties.

As local MP, Alan welcomed the move: ‘It’s great to see Rutland’s flag taking centre stage next to the Union flag on a major government building. I’ve been figuratively flying the flag for Rutland in Parliament for many years, so it is good to see it literally flying in Westminster!’
