Alan is encouraging residents near the proposed Asfordby wind farm to look to the skies. Opponents of the wind farm, STOP have pooled resources to fund a blimp to fly over the site at the height of the eventual turbines. The blimp will give residents more information about the scale of the development.
The blimp will be flown on Friday 5th and Saturday 6th August. It will be most visible for residents in Asfordby Hill and Valley. Thanks to a collection of donations, including from Ab Kettleby Parish Council, STOP are flying a BLIMP again as the weather prevented people from seeing it last time it was flown by Peel, the company that wishes to develop the site.
Alan said, “If we could harness the energy of these doughty campaigners we wouldn’t need a wind farm in Asfordby. The local community has really got behind this initiative to give people a good idea of what is at stake, and I welcome STOP’s action to fly the blimp.”
